What is an Ear Infection?

An ear infection is when part of the ear becomes inflamed or infected, often due to bacteria or viruses. It can cause ear pain, a high temperature, reduced hearing, and sometimes fluid coming from the ear. Ear infections are common, especially in children, and often improve on their own, but some cases may need treatment.
